The Moshoeshoe Walk (Menkhoaneng to Thaba-Bosiu) is an annual three-day walk from Menkhoaneng to Thaba–Bosiu where Basotho nation was built up by its founder King Moshoeshoe I. This historical walk has been successfully organized since 2007 and has attracted local, regional and international travelers.
The Walk traces back the route King Moshoeshoe I and his people took as they fled from his place of birth Menkhoaneng to Thaba Bosiu during the Lifacane era. The event signifies the journey he took together with his people from Menkhoaneng to Thaba-Bosiu in the year 1824 searching for a safer location to build a home and protect his people.
Moshoeshoe walk is a 117 KM long journey scheduled to be covered in three days and this year’s expedition is scheduled to take place from the 8th -10th March, 2018. It is hosted in commemoration of Legendary Basotho King Moshoeshoe I's birthday which is celebrated in March every year. Last year the walk was graced by Her Majesty the Queen -΄Masenate Mohato Seeiso who participated in this event and She is continuing to pledge her support for this year’s expedition.
